purity test

The rice purity test is a national phenomenon that has taken the world by storm over the last several years. It is defined by Wikipedia: as a self graded survey that assesses the participants supposed degree of innocence in worldly matters (sex, drugs, deceit and other activities assumed to be vices). It is based off of a percentage scale with 100% being the most pure and 0% being the least pure.

Purity test gained it’s most earliest popularity in the early 1980s and over the last several years a few different versions of the test have been conceived.

As a deeper and in depth analysis of the rice purity is developed, researchers have found that the test includes a list of approximately five hundred ”have you ever questions” in order to gain a true sense of just how pure you are. A few of these questions include but are not limited to:

  • Have you ever kissed someone?
  • Have you ever masturbated?
  • Have you ever showered with a member of the preferred sex?
  • Have you ever had a date past 1 a.m.?
  • Have you ever held hands romantically?
  • Seen or been seen by another person in a sensual context?
  • Undressed or been undressed by a MPS (member of the preferred sex)?
  • Masturbated with an inanimate object?
  • Seen or been seen by another person in a sensual context

Just to name a few.  Each question is designed to cover any sexual activity an individual has possibly ever done. In addition to these questions, the tests also seek to explore if any individual has ever been on the wrong side of the law.

Why The Rice Purity Test?

Many researchers are still trying to determine why this test is referred to as the rice purity test and while there are several reasons that can be attributed to the name of the test only one has stuck around the longest. Many years ago a group of students at the critically acclaimed  Rice University gathered a group of students and asked them over one hundred classes to see just how “pure” students on their campus were.

While many have used the purity test as a way to determine whether or not they should be open to having sexual relations, with an individual the rice purity test is really designed to be harmless. In fact, most of these questions were created in good spirit as a way to get students to have an open and safe conversation about their sexuality(and or lack of).

Studies have shown that students have been more willing to take this rice purity test than to take a very private STD test because they felt the purity test results were more of a no judgement zone.

How to Do the Purity Test?

The rules of completing the purity test are relatively easy and includes a Do and Don’t list that you can mark off via the box checklist.  In order for the purity test to be the most effective, it’s suggested that you offer full transparency. If you mess up on your test or answer incorrectly, erase your answers. If you want to see how your results stack up against others, make sure you first clear all of your results to make sure the results you receive are accurate.

  • As you go through the checklist check off the boxes that match your questions.
  • If you have never done what the question is asked, move on. If you have, tick it.
  • After you have finished the test be sure to click on ‘calculate my score’
  • If you want to start over make sure you clear all the boxes to ensure you are not receiving skewed results.
  • The score of your purity test will range from 0 to 100. The higher your score is, the purer you are.

After taking Your Purity Test Here’s How You Can Gauge Your Results

Once you have taken your purity test the first thing you’re going to want to do is figure out just how pure you are. By all means, it’s practically a given that everyone who takes the test knows just how pure they are prior to taking the test; however, there is nothing more exciting than finding out if in fact your purity test actually matches the results you think you should deserve. Below is a brief synopsis of how you can read your results.

100 to 98: If you are privileged enough to receive this score according to the purity rice test you are the purest of all humans. In fact, many have jokingly stated that those who receive this score are just as pure as the Virgin Mary. Being this pure is nearly impossible in this world of sexual exploration.

97 to 94: You may not be the purest of them all but having a score this high is still impeccable in today’s society. Obtaining this score shows that you have done a bit of kissing a time or two and it also means you know the difference between safe sexual activity and extreme.

93 to 77: Surprisingly enough the average person actually falls into this very same category. Those who fail into this category on the rice purity test have more than likely check off a mass majority of the items on the check list but overall haven’t done anything too explicit.

76 and Below: You’re about as adventurous as one can get in their sexual exploration. You had had several wild experiences and you’ve probably engaged in some relatively lewd acts on several occasions.

In spite of the above test results of the purity test, all who take the test must be reminded that this is just a test and it doesn’t mean anything about your sexual status.  Whether you have never kissed a man or a woman before, or you’ve kissed horizontally it doesn’t really matter. What is important is that this purity test is to never be used in lieu of making sound sexual health precautions.
